Medical Director
Position Title: Medical Director, Strategic & Scientific Services
Reports To: Senior Vice President, Strategic and Scientific Services

Brief Job Summary:
The Medical Director serves as the medical and scientific information source for the account team and the client. The Medical Director is responsible for assuring that all projects are medically and scientifically accurate, and that the recommended communication and education strategies are clinically sound.
Responsibilities of Position
Strategic Insight
- Proactively identify strategic opportunities through critical analysis and interpretation of data and review of the literature (new and organic business growth)
- Communicate and collaborate with Clinical Experts, clients, and the internal team on programs/projects to assure scientific accuracy while executing strategies to meet marketing objectives
- Build relationships with Clinical Experts and advocates
- Prepare/provide competitive intelligence/situation analyses/gap analyses for the account team and clients by collecting and analyzing available data
- Participate in new business development activities
- Conceptualize/communicate innovative marketing strategies that are scientifically credible
Content Direction
- Assume final responsibility for content, including scientific accuracy, clinical relevance, and audience appropriateness
- Medically direct assigned projects (e.g. provide direction to freelance medical writers; develop/review scientific content; prepare/review executive summaries of advisory board and consultant meetings; manage scientific aspects of publication plans)
- Develop and maintain depth of understanding for assigned products, disease state, and related market landscape (e.g. competitive product pipeline)
- Clearly communicate medical concepts in a concise, audience-appropriate way
- Work with Knowledge Center to develop and maintain Reference Manager database for a variety of therapeutic areas
- Attend relevant medical/society meetings

- Work with account management to develop logical and attainable timelines for project completion
- Foster teamwork to ensure highest quality deliverables and service
- Build strong client relationships; inspire client confidence

Essential Job Qualifications
- Education: MD, PhD, PharmD degree, Advanced Practice Nurse (or equivalent experience)
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years experience in medical education, pharmaceutical industry, and/or healthcare-related field
- Medical writing experience necessary
- Publication planning experience a plus
