Director, New Business Development, Publication CONNEXION
Brief Job Summary:
Identifies, pursues, and secures new Publications Plan business through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities directed at decision-makers and decision influencers. Communicates with new and existing clients on an ongoing basis to establish and maintain strong working relationships. Negotiates terms of business with client. This position has a key role in generating leads, opening doors and securing appointments with decision makers, calling on potential new accounts, closing business and growing existing business.
Responsibilities of Position
- Responsible for the identification, negotiation, and analysis of new business opportunities for Publication Connexion (PCX).
- Organically grows existing business and client relationships.
- Responsible to meet specific sales and revenue targets assigned by the CEO
- Develops and implements an overall strategy for increasing sales, market share and profitability for PCX.
- Develops and implements plans and strategies for the development of new Strategic Publication Planning business opportunities
- Provides the experience necessary to plan, organize, and successfully negotiate and structure new business proposals
- Communicates the progress toward business development milestones to Company management
- Attends meetings and conducts presentations to effectively describe and promote PCX capabilities and determine customer needs
- Collaborates with internal departments in the development and implementation of strategies, plans, and business models
- Seeks out and researches potential clients, product and project opportunities through various sources including the utilization of the Internet, print materials, trade journals etc.
- Creates, manages and edits preliminary responses as well as final proposals and presentations

The ideal candidate should have a proven track record for developing relationships with pharmaceutical companies; proven track records for selling Strategic Publication Plans; solid knowledge and understanding of the Strategic Publication Planning; and ability to ultimately close business.

Essential Job Qualifications
- Education: BA/BS in scientific or business discipline
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years experience managing business development in medical education agency, pharmaceutical services and/or pharmaceutical sales industry required
- Extensive experience selling Strategic Publication Plans
- A good understanding of and experience within a pharmaceutical, biotech or clinical research organization is a plus.
- Proven track record of success implementing business development efforts which maximize revenues.
- Strong client presentation skills
- Excellent customer relationship management skills with national accounts
- Established history of innovative product proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions in a changing environment.
